Define the core assortment
Start with the categories and common functions your customers actually purchase. Separate regular stocking items from project-only requirements. A practical assortment brief includes expected quantities by category, the preferred finish family and the market in which the products will be resold.
Control what makes an item repeatable
For recurring orders, record the exact model, dimensions, component list, packaging unit and appearance reference. If private labelling is requested, define artwork, labels and packing requirements separately. OEM availability, quantities and cost must be agreed for the specific item.
Review samples and documentation
Select representative samples and define how they will be compared with later orders. Request the model documents required by your customers, and identify any configuration changes before reordering. A stable approved specification helps purchasing, warehousing and after-sales teams work from the same item definition.
